SOLANGEL CREATIONS NEWSLETTER - June 9, 2018 "Stay cool, my Friend!"
Greetings to you all,
2018 is progressing to be another great year for art. Sales are moving along and I am painting a lot of paintings. Some are small, but they count too. After all, we want to be sure anyone can afford a painting if so desired!
I've participated in several events, some that may not have gotten logged onto my website calendar. The Veggie Fest was probably the most unusual thus far. It represented a whole world I did not even know existed. It was packed both days with people dedicated to eating a plant based diet. They come with their own vendors, books, cookbooks, art, speakers, etc. It was a very interesting two days - also was two days of wind and rain! That is also something to remember too.
The Sedona Art Center's annual Members Show was a delight. A much larger show than in the past, with many more members submitting their art. There were so many wonderful and interesting works I did not think I would win, but I did. This year instead of giving prizes for placing 1st, 2nd, 3rd, etc. in a variety of categories, nine people were selected as winners from the whole group.
I volunteered to write press releases for Cottonwood's local art group, EL Valle Artists Association, for the 2017/2018 season. I thoroughly enjoyed it, but had to give it up to get busy on my own projects. I am happy to say I wrote 34 press releases, most accompanied with my own photography. The Verde Valley newspapers (Sedona, Cottonwood, Camp Verde) and radio treated me very well, printing or broadcasting all but one release. Not sure what happened to the missing one. Now I plan to write releases for myself. This means I had better get busy.
I've started including some western scenes, giving more variety. At the current time, cacti have my attention (the older and weathered the better). Also have some new ideas to freshen up my still life artworks, and will begin to include some "figure" art soon. Can't wait!
Wishing you all the best and much happiness. Thank you for your interest in my art!
